WACO, Texas — The Waco Police Department has identified 28-year-old Victor Jesus Silva-Delgadillo as the man who died following an August 23 shooting, while 18-year-old Brayan Hernandez faces a charge of tampering with physical evidence and 20-year-old Leonardo Servin has been charged with deadly conduct in connection with the investigation.

The incident occurred Sunday evening in the 3600 block of N. 20th Street. Police said officers were dispatched to the area around 5:02 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.

By the time officers arrived, the individuals believed to be involved had left the location. Officers discovered two injured victims at the scene, including Silva-Delgadillo and a 19-year-old man whose name has not been released.

Officers immediately began emergency medical treatment before both victims were transported by AMR to a nearby hospital for additional care. Despite medical efforts, Silva-Delgadillo later died from the injuries he suffered in the shooting.

The second victim, a 19-year-old man, survived the incident and was expected to recover.

Following Silva-Delgadillo’s death, the Waco Police Department continued its investigation as a homicide case. Detectives have been working to determine the events that led to the shooting and establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.

On August 24, police announced that two people had been arrested as investigators continued gathering evidence. Hernandez, 18, was taken into custody on a charge of tampering with physical evidence. Servin, 20, was arrested and charged with deadly conduct.

The charges are allegations, and the defendants are entitled to due process as the case moves forward.

Authorities said the people involved in the shooting were known to one another. Investigators also believe the incident was isolated and have not indicated that there is a continuing threat to the public.

For Silva-Delgadillo’s family and friends, the investigation follows the devastating loss of a loved one whose life ended at just 28 years old. The sudden tragedy has left those closest to him facing grief while investigators continue working to answer important questions surrounding his death.
