A tragic shooting in LaGrange, Georgia, on Monday night, September 7, 2026, left Drevion Brewer and Amarious Williams dead, a juvenile injured, and Joshua Preston in custody as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the violence.
According to the LaGrange Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 9:41 p.m. to an apartment complex at 1235 Hogansville Road after receiving reports that multiple people had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found Drevion Brewer outside the apartment complex suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Brewer was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators determined that the shooting occurred inside Apartment 922. Officers searching the apartment found Amarious Williams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Williams was transported to a local hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.
A juvenile was also found nearby suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities said the injury was non-life-threatening.
The LaGrange Police Departmentโs Criminal Investigations Division responded and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including what led to the deadly confrontation and the events that occurred inside the apartment.
Joshua Preston was identified as the alleged suspect. Authorities located Preston and took him into custody. Police said he was charged with two counts of malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Additional charges are expected as investigators continue gathering evidence.
The deaths of Drevion Brewer and Amarious Williams have left their loved ones and others affected by the tragedy facing a painful loss. The injured juvenile is also recovering following the shooting.
The investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
