A heartbreaking loss has left a family and community mourning the deaths of Alyssa Osborn, 31, of Scottsburg, Indiana, and her beloved one-year-old son, Waylon Osborn. Mother and son tragically lost their lives following a devastating wrong-way crash on Interstate 65 near Seymour on August 23, 2026.

Alyssa was a loving mother with so much life still ahead of her. Her life was tragically cut short in the collision, leaving behind loved ones who must now face the unimaginable pain of saying goodbye.

Her precious son, Waylon, was only one year old. He was properly restrained in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle but suffered critical injuries in the crash. Despite being rushed to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, Waylon sadly passed away from his injuries.

The loss of a mother and her young child together is a tragedy that words can hardly describe. Alyssa should have had many more years to watch Waylon grow, celebrate his milestones, hear his laughter and create countless memories with him.

Waylon’s life had only just begun. He should have had a lifetime of birthdays, first days of school, family celebrations and precious childhood memories ahead of him.

Instead, their lives were taken far too soon.
