PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. — Omar DeLoatch, 44, of Hampton, Virginia, was identified as the victim in a shooting-related homicide near James River Drive, while Del’Wan Bland, 41, of Prince George, Virginia, has been arrested in connection with the case.
On August 29, 2026, at approximately 10:50 a.m., officers with the Prince George County Police Department responded to the 15200 block of James River Drive after receiving a report of an unresponsive person found on private property.
When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased male. Investigators determined that the victim had suffered trauma consistent with ballistic injuries. Authorities later identified the man as Omar DeLoatch.
The circumstances surrounding DeLoatch’s death prompted an immediate investigation by Prince George County police officers and detectives. Investigators worked collaboratively to gather information and develop leads in the case.
Later that same day, police announced that their investigation had resulted in an arrest. Del’Wan Bland was taken into custody without incident and is being held at Riverside Regional Jail without bond.
Bland faces several serious charges, including second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a violent felon.
The charges stem from the investigation into DeLoatch’s death. As the legal process moves forward, the case remains subject to the court system, and the allegations against Bland have not been proven in court.
