With broken hearts, the North Stonington and Southeastern Connecticut communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of 11-year-old Torren O’Grady, a sixth-grade student whose young life was tragically cut short after he was struck by a school bus while riding his bicycle.

Torren was only 11 years old. He had so much life ahead of him, so many dreams yet to discover, friendships still to make, birthdays to celebrate and memories waiting to be created. His family should have been watching him grow, celebrating his accomplishments and looking forward to the many milestones that come with childhood. Instead, they are facing a pain no parent should ever have to endure.

The news of Torren’s passing has left many people struggling to find the right words. There are simply no words powerful enough to ease the heartbreak of losing a child. For his parents and loved ones, the world has changed forever.

Torren’s classmates and teachers are also left to grieve the loss of a young student who was part of their school community. An empty seat, a familiar face missing from the hallway and the memories of everyday moments may now carry a pain that is difficult to describe.

For those who knew Torren, his memory will live on in the moments they shared with him. His smile, his laughter, his friendships and the little things that made him who he was will become treasured memories that his loved ones carry forward.
