KANSAS CITY, KAN. — August 25, 2026 — With heavy hearts, family, friends and members of the Kansas City community are mourning the loss of Stephanie Butler, who was tragically killed in a fatal shooting on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in the 1100 block of Hasbrook Avenue.

The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department released Butler’s identity Tuesday as investigators continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. Butler, born July 7, 1984, was a resident of Kansas City, Kansas.

Her passing has brought profound sadness to those who knew and loved her. A life that was connected to family, friends and a community has been suddenly taken away, leaving loved ones to face the difficult reality of saying goodbye.
