It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we remember Ryan Lane Simpson, 21, of Amarillo, Texas, whose life was tragically taken in a serious crash in Potter County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal collision occurred when a red 2024 Ford F-150 pickup struck the trailer of a tractor-trailer. The semi was coming from FM 1912 and turning east onto Highway 287 when the devastating crash occurred.

Ryan, who was driving the pickup truck, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was only 21 years old—a young life filled with possibilities, dreams, hopes, and a future that should have included so many more years and memories with the people who loved him.

The tractor-trailer driver, identified as Juan Carlos Sanchez, 47, of Amarillo, was not injured in the collision. Texas DPS reported that both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

While investigators continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision, the loss of Ryan leaves behind a family, friends, and loved ones who must now face an unimaginable emptiness. No words can truly express the pain of losing someone so young and so suddenly. A moment that began like any other day forever changed the lives of those who knew and loved him.
