The Anderson community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Robert Lewis Milton, 55, whose life was tragically cut short following a collision on Jackson Street in Anderson, South Carolina.

Robert was riding a scooter Saturday evening, September 6, when authorities say he was struck by a car. Anderson County 911 received a call shortly after 7:15 p.m. reporting the crash. First responders arrived quickly and found Robert seriously injured before rushing him to AnMed for emergency medical care. Sadly, despite efforts to save him, Robert died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

According to the preliminary investigation, the vehicle involved did not stop following the collision. The driver was eventually located and taken into custody. Authorities have not identified the driver or confirmed what charges, if any, have been filed.

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office determined that Robert died from multiple traumatic injuries, and his manner of death was ruled accidental. The Anderson County Office of the Coroner and South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
