Our hearts are heavy as we remember Richard Jobes, 62, of Harrington, and Richard Jobes II, 36, who tragically lost their lives Wednesday morning in an apparent murder-suicide along Whiteleysburg Road in Harrington, Delaware. Delaware State Police were called to Whiteleysburg Road at approximately 3 a.m. on August 26 after receiving a report of two unresponsive people in a ditch. When troopers arrived, they discovered Richard Jobes with a gunshot wound. Richard Jobes II was also found at the scene and appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday, authorities identified the 62-year-old victim as Richard Jobes of Harrington. Police identified the second man as Richard Jobes II, 36.

The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation. Delaware State Police have described the incident as an apparent murder-suicide, while investigators continue working to understand what happened and the events that led to the tragedy.
