According to the Suffolk Police Department, officers responded to the 800 block of 2nd Avenue at approximately 6:02 a.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing involving an adult male.

When officers arrived, Suffolk Fire and Rescue personnel were already working to save the victim. Life-saving measures were performed at the scene, but despite those efforts, Michael was pronounced dead.

Authorities later identified him as 59-year-old Michael Bellamy.
