It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we remember Melissa Marie Miley, 55, of Bullhead City, Arizona, whose life came to a tragic end after she entered the Colorado River on the morning of Friday, September 11, 2026.

Melissa’s passing has left behind a profound sense of sorrow for those who knew and loved her. While the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, one thing is certain: a life that mattered has been lost, and a family, a circle of friends, and a community are now facing an unimaginable loss.

According to authorities, officers were called to the Riverside parking lot at approximately 7:45 a.m. after witnesses reported seeing a woman enter the Colorado River. Her vehicle was reportedly left running with the driver-side door open, while she entered the water fully clothed and did not resurface.

A significant search effort followed. Bullhead City police boating units and dive team members, along with Water Rescue & Safety personnel, worked to search the river. Additional assistance was also being prepared as authorities searched the waterway and surrounding areas.

At approximately 10:35 a.m., passersby reported seeing a body floating in the river roughly two miles south of where Melissa had entered the water. Dive team members responded and recovered her from the Colorado River. She was pronounced deceased at the scene shortly afterward.

As investigators continue working to understand what happened, no foul play is currently suspected. The unanswered questions surrounding Melissa’s death may remain difficult for her loved ones, but behind the investigation is a human story—a woman whose life was meaningful and whose memory will continue through the people who knew her.
