It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we remember Geordan White, 60, of Redding, whose life was tragically lost following a drowning incident at Shasta Lake on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Geordan’s final moments unfolded near the Bailey Cove Boat Launch area of Lake Shasta. According to authorities, an adult male entered the water from a moving boat in an effort to rescue a dog that had also gone into the water. During the incident, Geordan reportedly experienced an unknown emergency and called for help. A flotation device was thrown to him, and he was initially able to hold onto it. Tragically, he slipped beneath the water and did not resurface.
In the hours that followed, members of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, CAL FIRE, and U.S. Forest Service personnel worked together in a determined search effort to locate him. Their efforts continued until dive team members located Geordan in the water later that afternoon. Sadly, he was pronounced deceased.
The news of Geordan’s passing leaves behind a profound sense of sorrow for everyone who knew and loved him. While the circumstances surrounding his final moments were heartbreaking, his attempt to help a vulnerable animal reflects an act of courage and compassion that will forever remain part of his story.
At this difficult time, our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Geordan’s family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May they find strength in the memories they shared, comfort in the love that surrounds them, and peace in knowing that Geordan will not be forgotten.
May his memory live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest peacefully, and may his loved ones find comfort during this heartbreaking time.
Rest in peace, Geordan White. You will be remembered.
