With heavy hearts, we remember 76-year-old Dana Lentz of Three Forks, Montana, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating motorcycle collision near Four Corners.
In the late hours of Wednesday, September 9, 2026, a fatal crash occurred near the intersection of Jackrabbit Lane and Durston Road, leaving a family and community grieving the loss of a loved one.
According to authorities, Dana was traveling northbound on Jackrabbit Lane on his motorcycle when an SUV traveling eastbound on Durston Road entered the intersection and struck him as the vehicles crossed paths. The collision left Dana with critical injuries.
Emergency responders rushed him to Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center, where medical professionals worked to save his life. Despite those efforts, Dana sadly succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash.
At 76 years old, Dana had lived a life filled with experiences, memories, relationships, and moments that undoubtedly meant so much to the people around him. His passing is a heartbreaking reminder that life can change in an instant and that every person leaves behind a story that deserves to be remembered.
For Danaโs family and friends, the days ahead will undoubtedly be filled with grief. The loss of someone who has been part of your life can leave an emptiness that words cannot easily describe. His absence will be felt in familiar places, during ordinary moments, and in the memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known him.
Following the crash, the Montana Highway Patrol, Gallatin County Sheriffโs Office, and Gallatin County Coronerโs Office conducted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities later arrested the driver of the SUV, who was being held at the Gallatin County Detention Center on multiple charges.
Gallatin County Sheriff/Coroner Dan Springer expressed deepest condolences to Danaโs family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
While an investigation may provide answers about what happened that night, it cannot undo the heartbreak of losing a life. Dana was more than a name connected to a tragic traffic collision. He was a son, a relative, a friend, a neighbor, and a cherished member of his community.
Today, we pause to honor his life and remember the years he shared with those around him. May his family find strength in the love and support of their community, and may the memories of happier times bring comfort during the difficult days ahead.
Rest in peace, Dana Lentz. ๐๏ธ
