Curtis Lonsky, 45, of King Ferry, tragically lost his life on August 25 following a devastating motorcycle crash at the intersection of Auburn Road and Locke Road. His sudden passing has left family, friends and loved ones facing the heartbreaking reality of losing someone far too soon.

Authorities responded to the intersection at approximately 6:05 p.m. after receiving reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a compact SUV.

According to investigators, Curtis was traveling north on Auburn Road when a compact SUV traveling south attempted to turn onto Locke Road. Investigators say the SUV failed to yield the right of way, resulting in a collision with Curtis’s motorcycle.

Curtis was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At only 45 years old, Curtis had so much more life ahead of him. There should have been more birthdays, more family gatherings, more laughter, more conversations and countless additional memories to create. Instead, those who loved him are now left holding onto the memories they shared and wishing they had more time.

For Curtis’s family and friends, this is more than a tragic crash. It is the loss of a person who mattered deeply to them. His absence will be felt in the quiet moments, during familiar places and whenever a memory suddenly brings his presence back to mind.

The driver of the SUV, 42-year-old Daniel Felipe of Brooklyn, was not injured and was issued a traffic ticket. A portion of Auburn Road was closed for nearly four hours while authorities investigated the scene.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office said the New York State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation.

As investigators work to determine the full circumstances of the crash, Curtis’s loved ones are left to mourn and remember the life he lived.

Though his life ended unexpectedly, the memories he created will remain. His name, his story and the moments he shared with others will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew him.
