The heartbreaking incident occurred at a home in the 7500 block of Dividing Creek Road, where Maryland State Police responded following a welfare check.

Maryland State Police troopers from the Princess Anne Barrack were called to the residence shortly before 7:30 p.m. on September 6. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Christine deceased inside the home. Dehart was also found at the residence and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore later officially ruled Christine Wells’ death a homicide. Authorities have described Dehart’s death as resulting from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound as investigators continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened.

Investigators believe Wells and Dehart had previously been in a relationship and that Christine was serving as Dehart’s caretaker. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit responded to the residence, along with Crime Scene Technicians from the agency’s Forensic Sciences Division, as investigators began gathering evidence and documenting the scene.
