With heavy hearts, we remember Ceaira Cook, 34, of Akron, and Raheem Heard, 24, of Akron, whose lives came to a tragic end in separate incidents in Summit County.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the names of individuals connected to cases investigated over the past several days, bringing a measure of identification to families and loved ones who are now facing the painful reality of loss.

Ceaira Cook, 34, was identified as the woman who died following a truck accident on September 4 at the Barberton campus of Summa Health System. At just 34 years old, Ceaira’s passing represents a heartbreaking loss of a life that held memories, relationships, dreams, and moments that will forever remain meaningful to those who knew her.

Raheem Heard, 24, of Akron, was also identified after his body was discovered on September 4 by a fisherman fishing from a dock at Summit Lake. Raheem was only 24 years old, a young life whose story has now ended far sooner than anyone could have imagined.

For the families and friends of Ceaira and Raheem, grief may come in waves—through memories, familiar places, photographs, conversations, and the countless little things that remind them of the people they loved. Their absence leaves behind a space that cannot simply be filled.

Authorities are also investigating a homicide in Barberton, but the victim’s name is being withheld at this time while officials work to notify next of kin. We extend compassion and respect to that family as they await answers and prepare to face an unimaginable loss.
