With heavy hearts, we remember Benjamin Lee Faulk, 36, of New Braunfels, whose life was tragically taken in a fatal hit-and-run crash on Highway 172 near La Ward, Texas, on September 7, 2026.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Benjamin was in the process of replacing a tire on a travel trailer when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle involved left the scene following the collision. Benjamin was pronounced dead shortly before 1 p.m., leaving behind a heartbreaking loss and a community searching for answers.
His passing serves as a painful reminder of how quickly life can change and how deeply a single tragedy can affect those who knew and cared for someone. Benjaminโs life was far more than the circumstances surrounding his final moments. He was a person with a story, memories, experiences, and connections that will continue to matter to those who knew him.
As investigators work to identify the vehicle involved, DPS is also seeking information about two vehicles that were reportedly seen pulling onto the northbound shoulder approximately 100 yards from the crash scene shortly after the incident. Those vehicles later left the area.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, traveled along Highway 172 near La Ward around the time of the incident, or may have dash-camera footage that could assist the investigation to come forward.
For those mourning Benjamin, the road ahead may be filled with sadness, unanswered questions, and memories of a life taken far too soon. May the investigation bring clarity and accountability, and may those who loved Benjamin find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
May Benjamin Lee Faulk be remembered with love, dignity, and respect. May his memory never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Benjamin.
