FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Authorities have identified the five people who were found dead during a homicide investigation at a rural property outside Forest Grove: Mary Elizabeth Kimsey, 85, of Portland; Rowan Karla Kimsey, 60, of Forest Grove; Stella Jade Kimsey, 26, of Forest Grove; Linsey Mae Haraldsen, 26, of Portland; and Alvin Raymond Chu, 27, of Portland. Their deaths have left families, friends and communities mourning as investigators continue working to understand the circumstances surrounding the devastating tragedy.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said deputies discovered the five victims at a property on Northwest Otis Lane in the Forest Grove area. The investigation quickly developed into a quintuple homicide case, drawing widespread attention throughout Oregon and beyond.

Investigators said Rowan Kimsey owned and lived at the property. Mary Kimsey was Rowan’s mother and Stella Kimsey’s grandmother. Stella also lived at the property with her boyfriend, Benjamin Charles Parker, whom investigators have identified as the suspect in the killings.

Authorities said the other victims were connected to Stella. Linsey Mae Haraldsen was identified as Stella’s best friend, while Alvin Raymond Chu was Haraldsen’s partner. The relationships among the victims have added another heartbreaking dimension to a case that has devastated multiple families.

The sheriff’s office has notified the victims’ next of kin, allowing their families to begin the painful process of grieving and making arrangements following the sudden loss of their loved ones.

Investigators also reported finding animals dead at the property. Two cats and two dogs were discovered deceased. A third cat was found alive but seriously injured and was taken to a veterinarian for treatment. Because of the severity of its injuries, the cat ultimately had to be euthanized. Livestock that remained on the property has since been rehomed.

The investigation also led authorities across state lines as they worked to locate Parker.

According to Enumclaw police officials, Parker was eventually found dead inside a vehicle in Enumclaw, Washington. Authorities said he died from an apparent gunshot wound and was found with a firearm in his hand.

The vehicle Parker was found in belonged to one of the five victims who had been discovered dead at the Forest Grove-area property. Enumclaw police said no additional weapons were located inside the vehicle, although evidence recovered from the scene was sent to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities said investigators had been tracking Parker’s cellphone activity after the killings. His phone reportedly pinged multiple times in the Enumclaw area.

Investigators also entered the license plate information from the vehicle into a Flock camera system. The system reportedly showed that the vehicle had entered Enumclaw five times but had not been recorded leaving the area.

That information helped investigators narrow their search. Parker was eventually located deceased inside the vehicle, which had been parked behind a grocery store.

The discovery brought an end to the search for the suspect but left investigators with the difficult task of piecing together exactly what happened at the Northwest Otis Lane property and determining the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the five victims.

The case began unfolding over the weekend after firefighters with Forest Grove Fire were dispatched to reports of a vehicle fire. Those first responders arrived at the property Saturday and discovered at least two of the victims.

The Forest Grove Fire Department later shared an emotional statement about the tragedy and the impact it has had on the community.

“Tragedies like our community experienced over the weekend are incredibly sad, while also being so hard on our hearts and souls,” the department said in part.

The statement reflected the emotional toll the incident has taken on first responders and members of the surrounding community, many of whom are now trying to process the enormity of what occurred.

The deaths of Mary Elizabeth Kimsey, Rowan Karla Kimsey, Stella Jade Kimsey, Linsey Mae Haraldsen and Alvin Raymond Chu have left a lasting sense of grief for those who knew them. Each victim had their own relationships, memories and connections, and their families are now facing an unimaginable loss.

As investigators continue their work, authorities are expected to provide additional information about the case. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office planned another news conference for Monday, August 25, at its headquarters at 215 SW Adams Ave. in Hillsboro. Officials said the exact time was still being determined and would be announced in advance.

For the families and loved ones of the five victims, however, the investigation is only one part of a much deeper tragedy. They are now left to remember five lives that ended far too soon and to navigate the difficult days ahead.

The Forest Grove-area community is also being called upon to support those affected by the tragedy. In the aftermath of such a devastating event, grief can extend far beyond the immediate families, touching friends, neighbors, first responders and everyone who has been shaken by the news.
