BURLINGTON, N.C. — A deadly shooting in Burlington early Monday morning has left 26-year-old Samir Terry dead, while Shanice Michelle Clark, 27, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

According to the Burlington Police Department, officers responded at approximately 4:33 a.m. on September 7, 2026, to the Cruizers convenience store located at 728 North Church Street after receiving reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found Terry suffering from a gunshot wound. Responding officers immediately began lifesaving measures as Burlington Fire and EMS personnel arrived at the scene to assist.

Despite the emergency response and efforts to save his life, Terry was pronounced deceased shortly after Burlington Fire and EMS arrived.

Police subsequently arrested Clark, 27, in connection with the deadly shooting. She was charged with second-degree murder and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center, where she received no bond.

Authorities said the incident is believed to have been an isolated event involving the victim and the suspect. Police emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The death of Terry has brought tragedy to Burlington, leaving family, friends and others who knew him to cope with the loss of a young life. While investigators continue working to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the case remains an active criminal investigation.

Police have not released additional details about what led to the shooting or provided further information about the relationship between Terry and Clark. Authorities also said no further information is available for release at this time.
