DOVER, Delaware — An 18-year-old Dover man, Foster Trader, was shot and killed Friday night in the parking lot of a CAVA restaurant on North DuPont Highway, according to information reported by Shore News Beacon.

Dover Police received multiple calls reporting shots fired at approximately 9:47 p.m. on September 4. Responding officers arrived at the CAVA restaurant at 1037 North DuPont Highway, where they found Trader on the sidewalk in front of the business suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers immediately began life-saving measures at the scene and continued those efforts until EMS personnel arrived. Despite the emergency response, Trader was pronounced dead at approximately 10:04 p.m.

The shooting has left Trader’s family, friends, and members of the Dover community mourning the loss of a young life.

Investigators recovered multiple spent shell casings from the scene and are reviewing additional evidence as they work to determine exactly what happened and what events may have led to the shooting.

At this time, police have not released a description of a possible suspect or information about a suspect vehicle. No arrests have been announced.

The Dover Police Department Criminal Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Detectives are working to establish a timeline and determine who may have been involved.

Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting, observed suspicious activity in the area, or may have surveillance footage from the surrounding area to come forward.
