With profound sadness, we remember Rebecca Hafen, a devoted mother of nine, and her newborn baby, whose lives were tragically lost following a devastating vehicle-pedestrian crash in Moroni, Utah.

The crash happened at approximately 7:55 a.m. Tuesday near 1808 E. Dairy Lane, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. Rebecca, who was pregnant, was walking along the shoulder of the road when she was struck by a vehicle.

She was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors performed an emergency delivery in an effort to save her baby, who was then taken to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and received medical care.

Sadly, the family received the heartbreaking news Wednesday that the newborn had passed away.

According to a fundraiser organized to support Rebeccaโ€™s husband, Tyson Hafen, and their family, Tyson and the children were able to spend precious time with the baby, holding, loving and saying goodbye before the newborn died.

The family found some comfort in believing that the baby was now with his mother, Rebecca.

Tyson and the coupleโ€™s children are now facing an unimaginable loss, having lost both a beloved wife and mother and a newborn family member in the same heartbreaking tragedy.

Rebecca leaves behind memories that will continue to live on through her children, husband, family and friends. Her role as a mother of nine was a tremendous part of her life, and the love she gave her family will never be forgotten.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. UHP said no charges are expected against the driver unless investigators determine that speed was a factor. The Sanpete County Attorneyโ€™s Office will determine whether charges are appropriate.

Please keep the Hafen family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this devastating loss.

Rest peacefully, Rebecca Hafen and your precious newborn baby. May you both be remembered with love, and may your family find strength and comfort in the days ahead.
