WACO, Texas — The Waco Police Department has identified 28-year-old Victor Jesus Silva-Delgadillo as the man killed in a fatal shooting on August 23, 2026, and announced the arrests of 18-year-old Brayan Hernandez, who is charged with tampering with physical evidence, and 20-year-old Leonardo Servin, who is charged with deadly conduct.

The fatal shooting happened Sunday at approximately 5:02 p.m. in the 3600 block of N. 20th Street. Officers were dispatched to the area after receiving reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived, the suspect or suspects were no longer at the scene. Police located two victims, including Silva-Delgadillo and an unidentified 19-year-old man. Officers immediately began providing emergency medical assistance to both victims.

The two injured men were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, Silva-Delgadillo later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The second victim, a 19-year-old man, survived the shooting and was expected to be okay, according to authorities.

The investigation quickly became a homicide case following Silva-Delgadillo’s death. Detectives began working to determine what led to the shooting, what happened in the moments before the gunfire and the circumstances surrounding the injuries suffered by both victims.

On August 24, the Waco Police Department announced that two arrests had been made in connection with the investigation. Hernandez was arrested on a charge of tampering with physical evidence, while Servin was arrested and charged with deadly conduct.

The charges against Hernandez and Servin are allegations, and both defendants are entitled to due process under the law.

Police said the individuals involved in the incident knew each other. Investigators also believe the shooting was an isolated incident and have not indicated that the public is facing an ongoing threat connected to the case.
